Number systems are so fascinating! Did you know that Babylonians gave us a positional number system (Base 60) several thousand years ago? In fact, that's how we still tell time! We got our Base 10 system from India and Persia as it spread to western Europe (the Hindu-Arabic system). But what exactly is a positional number system? And what happens when we have different bases? To better understand this, we'll start by inventing our own number system. Then you'll see how to break apart a number, in any base, to see what quantity it represents.
